At the MilkLife Soccer Challenge (MLSC) All Stars 2026, held at the Supersoccer Arena (SSA) in Kudus, young female soccer players gained an experience just as valuable as the games themselves. Arriving as rivals representing their respective regions, they left with new friendships that transcend city, language, and cultural boundaries.
The tournament brought together young athletes from across Indonesia, placing them in a shared environment. Beyond the matches, they lived and participated in activities together, allowing them to get to know one another off the field. One such story comes from Sekar Asha Kani, a goalkeeper from SD Muhammadiyah 1 Ketelan Surakarta and winner of the Best Goalkeeper award at the U-12 MLSC Solo Series 1. For Sekar, participating in the MilkLife Soccer Challenge All Stars 2026 offered far more than just a chance to compete.
“I have friends from Samarinda and Banjarmasin. Their names are Abida, April, and Chilla, among others. I’m closest with the friends from Samarinda because our hotel rooms were in the same hallway,” Sekar said when met at SSA Kudus on Thursday (June 25, 2026).
The camaraderie built throughout the tournament became a lasting memory for Sekar. She views the time spent together off the field as just as meaningful as the matches themselves.
“Playing together and going swimming—that was a lot of fun. They’re funny and cool people. It’s exciting to learn about their language and learn about other regional cultures together,” she added.
This experience demonstrates that competition serves as more than just a venue for testing technical skills; it brings children from diverse backgrounds together in an environment that encourages mutual understanding. Through daily interaction, they learn to appreciate each other’s characters, habits, and the cultural diversity every participant brings.
These values are echoed by Bandung All Stars coach Fauzi Bramantio, who holds a PSSI/AFC B license. He believes that a competitive environment like the MilkLife Soccer Challenge All Stars provides essential benefits for the development of young athletes.
"This is certainly a positive culture. They can learn from one another, especially by exploring different regional backgrounds. Children from Bandung, known for their distinct character, are interacting with peers from Kudus, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Malang, and Bekasi. Beyond building friendships, the hope is that they maintain these networks and potentially play together in future tournaments," explained Coach Fauzi.
For Fauzi, the process of character building is just as critical as honing football skills. Consequently, he emphasizes that rivalry should exist only during the match, while camaraderie among players must be maintained once the game concludes.
"Fundamentally, in this development stage, the priority is fostering networks. For both coaches and players, the focus is that opponents exist only on the pitch. Off the field, we are friends. Whatever disputes occur during the game, once the final whistle blows, they must be set aside," he asserted.
The sportsmanship cultivated during the tournament serves as a vital foundation for the players' athletic journeys. The bonds formed do not end with the match, but have the potential to serve as lasting networks when they reunite in future competitions.
