The first series of the Seneng Minton Festival has returned to the Djarum Sports Hall in Jati, Kudus, Central Java. Since Monday morning (June 23), 345 students from 24 elementary schools and Islamic elementary schools across Kudus Regency have competed to showcase their skills in the festival, which runs through Tuesday (June 24).
The enthusiasm of the participants at the festival, organized by the Kudus Regency chapter of PBSI in partnership with the Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation, has been highly commendable.
“Participant enthusiasm is excellent, as these are selected schools that already have badminton extracurricular activities. We organized this festival as a benchmark to determine whether they are conducting their extracurricular programs effectively and to monitor the development of badminton in each school. We are assessing their progress and quality following the two previous Seneng Minton Festival series,” explained Yuni Kartika, Chair of PBSI Kudus.
“Based on the results of extracurricular training and previous Seneng Minton Festivals, we are already seeing third-grade students joining badminton clubs. This means that among those participating in extracurriculars, there are students training seriously to master the sport, which is our primary goal,” Yuni added.
As in previous series, the competition is divided into three categories: Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3. Each team consists of five participants, with a composition of three boys and two girls. Participants must complete seven games: Service to Target, Shuttle Run, Pyramid Shuttlecock, Throwing the Shuttlecock, Zig Zag Run, Run, and Drive Target.
Winners in each competition category will receive trophies for their schools and individual awards, prize money (1st place Rp 1,000,000, 2nd place Rp 750,000, and joint 3rd place Rp 500,000), badminton equipment from Hundred, goodie bags from Milk Life, Kenko, and Dua Kelinci, and five boxes of ice cream from Aice.
