The excitement of the first day of the 2025 SenengMinton Festival, Series 1, was palpable at GOR Djarum, Jati, Kudus, on Monday (6/23). Students from various elementary schools (SD) and Islamic elementary schools (MI) competed to demonstrate their agility in navigating a series of challenging obstacles.

Among them was the formidable SD NU Imaduddin team. As the holders of the overall championship title after a clean sweep in both 2024 series, the school reaffirmed its consistency in aiming for the top spot. Their three teams—comprising students from first, second, and third grades—successfully navigated the opening round and qualified for the quarterfinals, which are set to take place tomorrow, Tuesday (6/24).

"This is our third time participating. We have previously swept the titles. We hope to defend our championship and achieve another clean sweep," said Hendri Maryanto, a teacher and coach for SD NU Imaduddin.

Although Hendri admitted that preparations were tighter than in previous years, he noted that the team had implemented a maximum-effort strategy.

"Our preparation was tighter this time compared to last year. We only had two months, but thankfully the students were cooperative during training, and we were also assisted by coaches from PB Djarum," Hendri explained.

"Our strategy is to identify the most talented prospects from each grade. We are quite selective in choosing teams that meet our requirements—specifically students who demonstrate high speed and the ability to grasp instructions quickly. At times, particularly with first graders, they require more guidance, so we look for students who best meet those needs," Hendri concluded. (AH)
