The excitement of the opening day of the 2025 SenengMinton Festival, Series 1, was evident at GOR Djarum in Jati, Kudus, on Monday (June 23). Students from various elementary schools (SD and MI) showcased their skills as they navigated a series of obstacle courses.
Among the standout competitors was the team from SD NU Imaduddin. As the reigning champions who swept all titles across two series in 2024, the team demonstrated its continued dominance. All three of its squads, representing grades 1, 2, and 3, successfully advanced past the opening round to the quarter-finals scheduled for Tuesday (June 24).
“This is our third time participating. We have previously swept all the titles. We hope to defend that record and win everything again this time,” said Hendri Maryanto, a teacher and coach at SD NU Imaduddin.
Although Hendri noted that the team’s preparation period was shorter than usual, he maintained that they have implemented an optimal strategy.
“Our preparation time was tighter compared to last year. We only had two months, but thankfully the children cooperated well during training, and we were also assisted by PB Djarum coaches,” Hendri explained.
“Our strategy involves identifying the top talent from each grade. We are highly selective in forming teams to meet our specific needs—particularly looking for students with excellent speed and the ability to grasp instructions quickly. Especially with first graders, who often require more guidance, we prioritize those best equipped to follow directions,” Hendri concluded. (AH)
