Kudus – Fyan Javier, an 18-year-old from Kudus Regency, Central Java, is pursuing a professional career in boxing. Following his high school graduation in 2025, he has committed himself fully to the sport he has practiced since his youth.
This career move comes after a successful two-year period in which Fyan earned multiple titles at the Kudus regency level. He is now focused on qualifying for the Central Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov), a premier regional sporting event.
"I train every day, morning and afternoon, to make Kudus proud at the provincial level," Fyan said at his regular training facility in Kudus.
To reach his target, Fyan maintains an intensive daily training regimen. His routine begins in the morning with physical conditioning, followed by afternoon sessions to sharpen his punching technique and sparring.
He trains at a modest gym on the outskirts of Kudus. Despite limited facilities, his dedication remains steadfast.
His coach noted that Fyan possesses both strong technique and a resilient competitive mindset.
"We have seen significant technical progress. With his current training discipline, his chances of competing at the provincial level are strong," the coach stated.
According to the coach, consistency and mental toughness are vital assets for young athletes aspiring to compete at higher levels.
Fyan's journey as a young Kudus boxer is bolstered by his family's support. His mother, a nurse, often drives him to training despite her demanding work schedule.
The long distance to his training site does not dampen his family's commitment to supporting Fyan’s sporting ambitions.
For Fyan, this support is a primary motivation to continue training and striving for excellence.
"Whenever I think of my mother’s sacrifices, I feel encouraged to push even harder," he said.
Like many young regional athletes, Fyan faces challenges, including limited facilities and training costs.
He often trains with basic equipment, but those conditions have not diminished his resolve to improve.
Fyan’s story reflects the spirit of many regional boxers working their way up from grassroots levels to achieve success. Boxing is a recurring event in the Central Java Porprov, which serves as a developmental platform for regional athletes aiming for the national stage.
As his preparations continue, Fyan hopes to pass the selection process and represent Kudus Regency at the upcoming Porprov.
He aims to demonstrate that limited resources are no barrier to achievement when paired with hard work and discipline.
