Women’s Soccer Trilogy Initiative Launched to Bolster Kudus as a Hub for Women’s Football Development
KUDUS — Kudus Regency has again emerged as a hub for national women’s football development with the launch of the Women’s Soccer Trilogy. The initiative aims to build a sustainable women’s football development ecosystem while promoting sports activities that drive local economic and community growth.
The Women’s Soccer Trilogy launch took place at the Simpang Tujuh Square in Kudus on Sunday (June 21, 2026), coinciding with the weekly Car Free Day (CFD). Thousands attended the event, filling the city center for the opening ceremony of the tournament series, which will run through August 2026.
Kudus Deputy Regent Bellinda Putri Sabrina Birton, accompanied by regional officials, formally inaugurated the event. The ceremony featured the unveiling of a giant Women’s Soccer Trilogy icon, followed by a ceremonial dribbling exhibition around the Simpang Tujuh Square with participants.
Staged Competition Series
The Women’s Soccer Trilogy is a series of tiered football competitions held from June through August 2026. The program includes the MilkLife Soccer Challenge All Stars (June 23–28, 2026), the HYDROPLUS Soccer League All Stars 2025/2026 (July 5–12, 2026), and the Srikandi Merdeka Cup, a final tournament featuring domestic and international women's teams.
These three tournaments are part of a continuous development pipeline for young female athletes who have previously participated in various grassroots programs.
In her address, Deputy Regent Bellinda Putri Sabrina Birton expressed her appreciation to the Djarum Foundation for selecting Kudus as the host for this series of events.
According to Bellinda, the tournament series provides a competitive platform for athletes while simultaneously stimulating the local economy through hospitality, the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, and other supporting services.
"This event does more than just promote sports; it will also stimulate the economy in Kudus Regency. Hotel accommodations and local MSMEs stand to benefit. We thank the Djarum Foundation for the positive impact on our community," she said.
Bellinda encouraged the public to support the event by maintaining security, order, and environmental cleanliness throughout the proceedings.
"Let us ensure the success of this event by keeping the area safe, orderly, and clean. To the athletes, stay motivated, maintain sportsmanship, and use this opportunity to build connections and teamwork," she added.
A Pathway to Higher Competition
MilkLife Soccer Challenge (MLSC) Program Director Teddy Tjahjono explained that the Women's Soccer Trilogy is designed as part of a tiered development pathway for Indonesian female soccer players, providing young athletes the opportunity to advance their skills to higher competitive levels.
According to Teddy, the HYDROPLUS Soccer League and the Srikandi Merdeka Cup serve as continuations of the development process established through the MilkLife Soccer Challenge.
"Our young participants in the HYDROPLUS Soccer League now have a further platform: the Srikandi Merdeka Cup. This is a golden opportunity for them to potentially represent the Indonesia U-16 national team against teams from six other countries," explained Teddy.
He added that organizers are preparing infrastructure, including field lighting, to enable night matches for the Srikandi Merdeka Cup, allowing for a broader audience through live broadcasts.
As part of the development program, Teddy noted that players demonstrating standout performance in the MilkLife Soccer Challenge also have the opportunity to gain international competitive experience.
“We plan to send the top players from the MilkLife Soccer Challenge to The SingaCup on November 2, 2026. Looking ahead, we intend to expand the MilkLife Soccer Challenge and Hydroplus Soccer League to more cities to broaden participation,” he stated.
Enthusiasm from Participants Across Regions
The Women's Soccer Trilogy has captured the attention of not only Kudus residents but also participants from across Indonesia, including an All Stars team from Samarinda.
Samarinda All Stars coach Taufik Hidayat expressed admiration for the local enthusiasm toward women's soccer in Kudus, noting that the atmosphere reflects strong support for the sport's development.
Taufik explained that his team prepared for approximately two months, focusing on refining technique, physical conditioning, and team cohesion to face competitors from various regions.
“The girls have shown remarkable progress. Our primary goal is to play well and build motivation. If we are fortunate, we certainly aim for a top-three finish,” he said.
Team players are equally optimistic. Samarinda All Stars player Adiba Sanas Primayoga said she and her teammates trained three times a week to prepare for the competition.
According to Adiba, the training emphasized discipline and teamwork, and she expressed hope that the squad would deliver their best performance throughout the tournament.
“The coach prioritized discipline and cohesion. We naturally hope to win since we have traveled so far; hopefully, we succeed,” she added.
Boosting Local Sports and Economic Activity
The Women's Soccer Trilogy is the latest national-level sporting event hosted in Kudus in recent years. These tournaments provide a platform for athletes to compete while fostering engagement across various segments of the community.
The nearly three-month-long series of matches is expected to draw athletes, coaches, officials, families, and spectators from various regions, potentially stimulating local sectors such as transport, hospitality, dining, and other community-based businesses.
Through the Women’s Soccer Trilogy, Kudus serves not only as a host for matches but also as a hub for the sustainable development of Indonesian women’s football.
