KUDUS — Amid the roaring cheers filling the stands at Supersoccer Arena (SSA) Kudus, another compelling story emerged during the MilkLife Soccer Challenge (MLSC) All Stars 2026. Behind every save made by All Stars Surabaya goalkeeper Ainur Fitriani lies the dedication of a mother who traveled a great distance to ensure her daughter felt the warmth of family support firsthand.
The national girls' soccer tournament, held from June 23–28, 2026, served as more than just a platform for young athletes to prove their talent; it highlighted the sacrifices families make to support their children’s dreams.
As the tournament entered the quarterfinals, the atmosphere at SSA Kudus intensified. For Enyk Suharmanik, 41, the focus was not just on the score, but on watching her third daughter guard the goal for All Stars Surabaya.
Reaching Kudus was no small feat. Traveling from her home in Pacar Keling, Surabaya, Enyk opted for a resourceful approach to be by her daughter's side: she, along with her elderly mother and two other children, rode in a truck driven by her brother, who is a professional driver.
“We left home at 3 p.m. on Monday and arrived at the SSA at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The journey took about 19 hours,” Enyk shared during the tournament.
Despite spending over a dozen hours in the truck cabin, punctuated by stops for cargo loading and unloading, her resolve remained unshaken. To her, the arduous trek was a vital part of the support she owed to Ainur.
“It just happened that my brother is a truck driver and his route included Kudus. We took the opportunity to save on travel costs so I could be there to support Ainur in person,” she added with a warm smile.
The family's efforts continued once they arrived in Kudus. Throughout the week-long tournament, they rented a room near the venue to ensure they did not miss a single moment of Ainur’s performance.
"We walk from our boarding house to the stadium every day. We don't want to miss any of Ainur's matches. We want her to feel that her family's prayers and support are always with her," said Enik.
For Ainur Fitriani, having family in the stands provides much more than just moral support. Their warmth is a vital source of motivation, helping her maintain focus under the pressure of competition.
"Yes, I'm very happy to have my family on the sidelines. It's a tremendous boost that helps me play with more focus," said the daughter of Enyk Suharmanik and Ribut Gunawan.
Ainur's journey in soccer began in the fourth grade when she joined an extracurricular futsal program. Although she does not come from a family of athletes, she has grown up with the full support of her parents, who have always encouraged her to train and develop her skills.
Ainur maintains a disciplined training regimen, combining team practice with independent sessions to refine her technique and physical condition. This consistency paid off when she helped her school team win the MilkLife Soccer Challenge Surabaya Series 2 in the U-12 category. During the event, she was named Best Goalkeeper for her series of decisive saves.
Her performance led to her selection for the Surabaya All Stars in the MilkLife Soccer Challenge All Stars 2026. As the team's primary goalkeeper, Ainur helped guide her side to the quarterfinals.
Behind these achievements, the efforts made by families demonstrate that a young athlete's journey is never taken alone. The support of parents and close relatives manifests in many forms, from dedicating time and energy to undertaking long journeys just to be by their child's side during competition.
