When Sports and Art Converge at the Srikandi Fair Folk Festival

KUDUS – The Srikandi Fair has become a major community attraction during the international Caffino Srikandi Merdeka Cup 2026, held from August 14 to 23 at the Supersoccer Arena in Kudus. Amid the competitive atmosphere featuring eight teams from seven nations, the Srikandi Fair offers a vibrant escape with entertainment, culinary offerings, and a bazaar showcasing local micro-enterprises.

The entertainment stage at Rendeng Field has emerged as a crowd favorite. Daily performances range from music to dance, including a set by GLIXCH, a dance troupe from SMA Kanisius Kudus.

The seven members of GLIXCH—Caecilia Keiko, Gabriella Sonya, Cecilia Putri, Shaneisha Eudora, Dominic Aurelia, Keisha Laura, and Felicia Puteri—delivered an energetic performance to hundreds of festival-goers. They showcased a modern routine set to popular dangdut-pop tracks.

This musical selection was intentional. GLIXCH coach Vikri Islah Khafidz explained that the performance concept was designed for broad appeal, blending hit songs with modern choreography to resonate with the audience.

"As soon as the music started, the audience connected immediately and enthusiastically followed the rhythm and GLIXCH's moves," said Vikri during the Srikandi Fair on Saturday (8/22/2026).

According to Vikri, the group follows an "All Star" concept, encouraging each member to embrace their unique character and strengths so they can shine on stage.

The Srikandi Fair has provided a valuable platform for Vikri to showcase his proteges to a diverse audience. Having spent about a year performing on various stages, the group noted that appearing amidst an international women's soccer tournament offers a distinct experience.

After catching matches at the Supersoccer Arena, visitors can transition seamlessly into the festival. The shift from the intensity of the games to the lively music and dance performances keeps the area energized well into the night.

"We express ourselves through dance. We want everyone who visits (the Srikandi Fair) to leave with a smile," Vikri said.
