For two days, from August 1-2, 2026, the Supersoccer Euro Futsal Championship 2026 – City Playoff Kudus brought together European football fan clubs and university futsal teams from across Central Java.

A total of 26 teams participated in the Kudus series, comprising 16 community-based teams and 10 university teams. They traveled from cities including Kudus, Semarang, Salatiga, Blora, Rembang, Grobogan, Pati, Demak, Jepara, and Purwodadi. Each team brought their regional identity and competitive spirit, all sharing the same goal: to emerge as the top representative of the Supersoccer Euro Futsal Championship 2026 – City Playoff Kudus and advance to the next stage of the tournament.

For the participants, the competition was intense from the opening whistle. No match was taken lightly, as every point proved vital in the race for a knockout stage berth. Over the two-day event, GOR Bung Karno remained bustling with activity. As one match concluded, the next squad immediately took the court. Off the pitch, players warmed up, coaches refined strategies, and supporters packed the stands, adorned in their respective club colors.

The first day began with the group stages, where teams played with high intensity from the start. Some opted for aggressive, high-pressure tactics, while others prioritized patient, ball-possession-based play. This tactical variety ensured every match posed unique challenges.

By the second day, the stakes rose as the tournament entered the knockout phase. With no room for error, players displayed increased discipline and caution. Battles for possession grew more physical, with every scoring opportunity drawing loud cheers from the spectators.

Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) Semarang futsal coach Fikie Saputra noted the even quality of the field at the Kudus City Playoff, stating that every team arrived well-prepared, making every opponent a dangerous one.

“We prepared the team well in advance. While some key players were unavailable, the rest of the squad was ready to perform and give their best. All the teams are strong; none should be underestimated. Whoever is best prepared will emerge as the winner,” he said.

Udinus Semarang captain Andhika Surya Kurniatama echoed this sentiment. He noted that playing against teams from various regions, including the hosts, presented a significant challenge, with a high-stakes atmosphere present from the first minute.

“The atmosphere was incredibly intense and heated. Our opponents from Kudus played very well, making for a compelling match. Every team has its own strengths. We are ready to fight to win,” he added.

Supporters Fuel the Excitement

The match atmosphere was not built by the players on the court alone. The presence of supporters from various communities added vibrancy throughout the City Playoff Kudus. They filled the stands from early morning, waving banners, wearing their team jerseys, and tirelessly chanting in support of their respective teams.

For Aninda Faris, a Milanisti Semarang supporter, this year’s Supersoccer Euro Futsal Championship – City Playoff Kudus marked her first time attending the tournament in person. She traveled to Kudus to support her husband, who was playing for Milanisti Semarang.

“The atmosphere is very exciting. The matches are tense but enjoyable to watch,” she said.

Although she had to bring her baby along, Aninda enjoyed the proceedings from start to finish. She noted that the tournament was well-organized, allowing spectators to watch in comfort. The presence of teams and communities from various regions created a more vibrant atmosphere compared to other futsal competitions she has attended.

Event chairman and coordinator Bayu Tria stated that the Supersoccer Euro Futsal Championship 2026 has been held consistently for nearly eight years as a platform for football fan clubs, futsal enthusiasts, and students to compete and strengthen community ties.

“This event has been running for nearly seven to eight years. The goal is to provide a platform for fan clubs, football enthusiasts, and university students to engage in sports while fostering camaraderie,” he said.

According to Bayu, beyond providing competitive matches, the tournament is designed to offer participants and spectators a more comprehensive experience through various supporting activities. With this concept, the City Playoff serves not only as a search for winners in each city but also as a space for futsal communities from different regions to unite in an atmosphere of healthy competition.

USM Concludes Competition with Championship Title

After navigating matches from the group stage through to the knockout rounds, the City Playoff of the Supersoccer Euro Futsal Championship 2026 in the Kudus series has produced the top teams qualified to advance. In the university category, Universitas Semarang (USM) emerged as champion after maintaining a consistent performance throughout the two-day event.

USM’s campaign began with a 3-0 victory over Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW) in the preliminary round. Their positive streak continued as they defeated Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) 1-0 to secure a semifinal berth. In the final four, USM delivered another commanding performance, overcoming Semarang State University (Unnes) 3-0.

The final proved to be the ultimate test. Facing Wahid Hasyim University (Unwahas), the match remained intense until the closing minutes, with both sides trading chances and defending leads. In a high-stakes encounter, USM ultimately emerged victorious with a 5-4 score, clinching the Supersoccer Euro Futsal Championship 2026 – City Playoff Kudus title.

USM Futsal Club advisor Sudarmono attributed the result to the consistent training regimen followed by the players. According to him, the success in Kudus is a product of the team's hard work, discipline, and fighting spirit.

“This achievement is the result of hard work, discipline, and a high level of fighting spirit. The entire team is savoring this success as a gesture of gratitude. Moving forward, we must refocus our training, as there are many upcoming tournament agendas. We will continue to improve our skills and maintain a champion’s mindset to bring honor to Universitas Semarang on a higher stage,” he said.

USM team captain Valucia Chivu credited the championship not to individual brilliance, but to the collective effort of the entire squad throughout the preparation phase and the final match.

“We are very grateful to bring the championship title home to Universitas Semarang. Every player worked hard, supported one another, and fought until the final minute of every game,” he stated.

USM Coach Seftian echoed similar sentiments, stating that the team prepared beyond just technical and tactical aspects; they focused on building the mental fortitude necessary for players to withstand the pressure of high-stakes matches.

“The players performed according to instructions and displayed incredible fighting spirit in every match. We focused not only on technique and tactics but also on fostering a competitive mindset and team cohesion,” he said.

The Initial Step Toward National Competition

Success in Kudus is only the beginning for the champions. The Supersoccer Euro Futsal Championship 2026 is a tiered tournament held in 12 Indonesian cities: Jakarta, Tangerang, Bekasi, Purwokerto, Kudus, Yogyakarta, Indramayu, Cimahi, Tasikmalaya, Tulungagung, Surabaya, and Pasuruan.

The top teams from each City Playoff will advance to the Regional Finals, scheduled for September to October 2026 in Jakarta, Garut, Solo, and Surabaya. Winners from these rounds will then compete for a place in the National Grand Final, held in October 2026.

For the participants, the tiered competition system makes every city-level match vital. The journey to the national stage begins with every victory secured during the City Playoffs.

Event organizer and coordinator Bayu Tria hopes the competition will continue to serve as a launchpad for futsal players capable of competing at higher levels.

“Our hope is that new players will emerge who can eventually achieve success at the national and even international levels,” he stated.

Over the two-day event, GOR Bung Karno served not only as a match venue but also as a meeting point for teams from across Central Java. Competition on the court was fierce, yet consistently framed by sportsmanship from the opening match to the closing ceremony.
