Running gear has been the top-selling category in recent months, a trend that mirrors the broader popularity of running as both a recreational activity and a competitive sport in public spaces throughout the region.
According to Rank Sport Kudus Outlet Manager Jery Kurniawan, the primary reason for opening a branch in Kudus was the high level of public enthusiasm for sports.

"The reason for establishing Rank Sport in Kudus is that demand and enthusiasm from the local community are very high. As it happens, sports trends are currently on the rise, ranging from running and women's and men's soccer to futsal," he stated.
He explained that running products are the highest-demand category, followed by soccer and futsal equipment. In addition to footwear, customers are also frequently looking for jerseys, athletic shorts, socks, and other supporting gear.

For Jery, the hosting of various sporting events in Kudus has a direct impact on store activity. As competitions approach, public demand for sports equipment tends to increase.
He noted that when Kudus hosts running or soccer events, many participants arrive to purchase gear before competing. Running shoes are among the most sought-after products, followed by various supporting items.
This highlights that sports events generate more than just arena activity; they create new demand in supporting sectors. Sports equipment has become an essential part of participant preparation before stepping onto the field or track.
Jery added that Rank Sport Kudus customers are not limited to residents of Kudus Regency. Many visitors travel from Pati, Rembang, Blora, Grobogan, and parts of Jepara. He believes the presence of a sports store in Kudus makes it easier for the community to access necessary products without traveling to other cities.
This has established Kudus as one of the areas with high Rank Sport sales in Central Java. This achievement aligns with the increasingly dense sports activity in the city and rising public participation across various sports.
For Tony Hartanto, sports have become a routine. The young man from Gamong Village in Kaliwungu District actively plays mini soccer and futsal, and has begun to take up running.

When in need of new equipment, he chooses to visit Rank Sport Kudus because he can personally view the wide range of products suited to his activities.

"I am mostly looking for equipment for my hobbies. I enjoy soccer the most, especially mini soccer and futsal. Now, I have also taken an interest in running, which has further motivated me to find the right shoes to support my hobby," he said.
As a novice runner, Tony admitted that the available product selection, particularly in the running shoe category, has been helpful. He noted that categorizing products by training type makes it easier to select shoes appropriate for easy runs, long runs, or speed sessions. He also found the availability of supporting equipment in a single location to be a practical solution for his athletic needs.
Muhammad Nurus Shofa shared a similar experience. A resident of Peganjaran Village, Bae District, he visited Rank Sport Kudus following a recommendation from a coworker when he set out to purchase running shoes.

He initially struggled to decide where to shop for sports gear, but the recommendation led him to the store for his first visit.
"It was based on a friend's recommendation. I was uncertain at first, but after asking around, I was directed here," he stated.
Despite it being his first visit, Shofa found the selection of products to be quite diverse, noting that he could find various categories of shoes—from running and futsal to soccer—all in one place.
For him, the availability of a sports equipment store in Kudus benefits local enthusiasts. As demand for sports gear grows, residents no longer need to travel outside the region to find the products they need.

“It is complete. They have running shoes, futsal shoes, and football cleats. Having this here is helpful. With sports like running, football, and futsal becoming popular, I came here specifically to buy running shoes,” he said.
The stories of Tony and Shofa highlight an ongoing shift in Kudus. Despite their different needs, they share a common goal: finding equipment to support the sports activities that have now become part of their daily lives.
This trend indicates that sports are no longer limited to professional athletes or competitors. As more people incorporate exercise into their daily routines, the demand for sports gear continues to rise.

He expressed hope that the store will continue to be a primary choice for residents, sparing them the need to travel to other cities for their sporting goods.
Beyond a diverse product selection, the store offers a range of price points to suit various budgets. Futsal and football shoes are priced between Rp 200,000 and approximately Rp 1 million, while running shoes range from around Rp 300,000 to Rp 2 million. Additional equipment such as jerseys, socks, shoe bags, and sports accessories are also available at various price points.
Convenience is further enhanced by flexible payment options, including cash and cashless payments via QRIS. Customers can visit the store daily from 10:00 to 21:00 WIB or follow official Rank Sport Kudus social media accounts for product updates and promotions.

The increasing number of sporting events in Kudus demonstrates that a city’s development is measured not only by the frequency of competitions held but also by the availability of services that support public engagement. As more residents adopt an active lifestyle, the demand for sports equipment has steadily risen.
For some, purchasing new shoes is merely a minor step in preparing for a race or training. For others, it marks the beginning of a routine exercise habit. In this regard, supportive facilities play a crucial role in ensuring residents can easily access equipment tailored to their specific needs.
As running tracks become more crowded, football fields see constant use, and various competitions return to Kudus, the demand for sports gear is expected to keep pace. Amid this shift, the presence of sports retailers has become a key component in the growing sports ecosystem of the 'Kretek City.' (JMY/mainkekudus)
